Support Groups offer understanding and encouragement to both the clients and their families as they learn to put their new skills into daily life.
Supports groups offer:
- Tips about daily living
- Information on new medical developments in the field of vision loss
- Enjoyable social contact
- A chance to learn about new technology
- Hear more about additional Lighthouse services and community services
Caregiver Support Group
Third Wednesday of the month at Lighthouse, 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Support Group – Adult (55 and over)
First and Third Friday each month, 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.

Red Cane Club – Highlands County
Third Thursday of the month, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Walk and Talk – Every Wednesday 9:30 to 11:30 a.m, meet at Lighthouse and stroll the neighborhood sidewalks to the Bay, then coffee and conversation. Open to everyone, guide dogs welcome.
Adjustment to Vision Loss Courses
9-week courses (once weekly) are held throughout the year in Sarasota, Venice, Port Charlotte and Highlands County. Courses are free, but advance registration is required. Call (941) 359-1404 for information.
