Assistive Technology Instructor, Part-Time Per Diem
Lighthouse Vision Loss Education Center is seeking a part-time per diem Assistive Technology Instructor. This position is estimated at 10-20 hours per week initially, and as we grow it could turn into a full-time position with benefits.
The Assistive Technology Instructor is responsible for planning and providing specialized training in the use of assistive technology devices and programs for blind and visually impaired individuals, including completing assessments, establishing goals for training, planning and providing instruction, and submitting required documentation on a timely basis.
Qualifications are as follows:
- minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Rehabilitation, Education, Computer Science or a related field and knowledge of the implications of eye disorders and blindness is required.
- minimum of one year of instructional experience.
- knowledgeable about various assistive computer software programs for the blind and visually impaired such as ZoomText and JAWS, as well as various computer operating systems and tablet/smartphone/device accessibility.
- a valid Florida driver’s license, reliable transportation and a good driving record allowing the candidate to serve clients within our five-county area is required. Travel time is paid at one-half the hourly instructional rate and mileage is reimbursed subject to Lighthouse policy.
