A Lighthouse field trip to The Ringling
A group from a Lighthouse of Manasota Adjustment to Vision Loss class had a field trip to The Ringling Museum on Monday, December 4. Angelica Bradley, the museum’s Youth and Family Program manager, demonstrated tactile ways to experience art. The images show Angela with “La Sultana Rossa,” a 16th century painting from Titian’s studio. After describing the work, visitors were invited to touch and explore a beaded hat with veil, silk cloth for the dress and a furry stuffed animal for the fur trim, all from the Sultana’s wardrobe in the painting. Outside, participants donned plastic gloves to feel the surfaces of the Capitoline She Wolf sculpture.
